We review Pete Swanson Man With Potential it’s “Far Out” or the less tangible?
If you could say anything about the direction US electronic music took in 2011, now that we have at least a bit of perspective, it might be that underground artists found a taste for dance music and ran with it. Look anywhere from 100% Silk to Container. And it seems that Pete Swanson, producer and cofounder of Yellow Swan, has gotten on the same boat for his first solo album for label Type…kind of. The glitchy curtains and swirls of sound you might expect from a producer know up to now for arrhythmic ambiance are still there but so is a kick drum trying to breaking through.
Opener “Misery Beat,” might conjure early rave music on speed with rapid beats, high-frequency sounds and spastic melodies, but Swanson still seems more at home in non-dance contexts than in full on techno. “Remote View” courses with subtle beats, buzzes, string lines and whale songs before giving way to the title track that screams with density and noise laced with a melody coming in and out of view.

House Music and Techno Fans Chicago’s Varsity Allstars Release Show Info
Chicago’s Varsity Allstars team released the dates and details for another summer of Sunday parties. Now in its 5th year, the event has developed into a prevalent summer destination for house and techno fans, with artists like Seth Troxler, Anja Schneider and Cassy taking over the headlining “MVP” honors.
New York house selector DJ Three will headline the July 17th opening party, and the September 11th show will see Dandy Jack and Sonja Moonear perform live as Junction SM. Support for the parties will come from Naveen G and Dory. Get more info at the Chicago’s Varsity Allstars site -

As we browse through the dancedance.com download library. I stumbled on and old Tony Brown; tech house song themed “Inside the Gate”. Mastered by the great Ron Murphy, this comes from the dancedance.com volume 3 techno record. It’s the B- side called Inside The Gate Part 1 & 2 by Tony Brown. Part 1 is stacked with hard Tech-House keyboard sounds using the Yamaha motif es6and the Roland phantom. Tony also used the Roland r8 with the old school dance card for the drums. Part 2 lush strings (viloa’s) and Detroit techno Synth sounds also there is a hot electro beat. “I made this record for Dj’s who love to blend The timing is locked tight on this track there are so many ways to mix this song” Tony Brown -
